Balsam Impatiens are one of the best known and most popular garden plants for their prolific flowers and ease in growing. They are an evergreen perennial but are often grown as an annual in nontropical climates.
Find a site in the garden with partial shade or full sun.
Work a little compost or sphagnum peat moss into the flower bed before planting.
Balsam likes rich, well-drained soil.
Plant 8 to 10 inches apart, depending on the plants' mature height. The taller the plant will ultimately be, the farther apart you plant.
Keep soil moist.
Balsam thrives on plenty of water, so never allow it to dry out
